Yellowstone National Park Glamping – Our Under Canvas Experience
Are you planning a trip to Yellowstone National Park and searching for glamping near the park? When I set out to plan our Yellowstone- Grand Teton vacation last year, I wanted to have at least one night of glamping. If you’re going to experience glamping for the first time, I can think of no better place.
When researching lodging in West Yellowstone, Montana, no options caught my eye. That is until I stumbled upon Under Canvas West Yellowstone- a luxury glamping resort on the outskirts of town and just six miles from the Yellowstone National Park entrance.
I was sold. Reservation set.
What is glamping?
If you’re unfamiliar with glamping and are curious about what to expect, my best explanation is this: boujee camping.
I love the outdoors, and on vacations, we travel to places where we can spend lots of time outside and do adventurous things. But when the sun starts to set, I don’t want to camp and sleep on the ground. It’s just not my thing. I’d much prefer a glass of wine, a hot shower, a real bathroom, and a cozy bed.
Glamping varies from place to place but typically involves an oversized tent that is essentially as big as a hotel room, with a real floor, and if you’re lucky, you might even get your own in-suite bathroom. While it depends on the company, glamping facilities often include charging packs for phones, lanterns, and, if you’re lucky like we were, a stove to keep you warm at night.
Our West Yellowstone Glamping Experience
Our one-night stay at Under Canvas West Yellowstone was wonderful. Wild West Adventure meets Luxury Outdoors.
It was a family trip, so we had four in our party and chose a deluxe suite tent with kids tepee to give ourselves a bit more room. Our glamping tent had a private bathroom and one of the coziest beds I’ve ever slept in. The kid’s tepee wasn’t quite as luxurious, but they enjoyed having more space and their own beds.
Our glamping site was nestled near the river on the outskirts of the property. It provided just the amount of privacy and adventure we were seeking. Around 3 am, we woke to the sound of coyotes yipping nearby. It was a real experience!
Under Canvas West Yellowstone
The property itself is very cute. Under Canvas has a coffee bar inside the main welcome/ reception tent. Outside, you’ll discover firepits, a bar, and games. Pull up a chair to the firepit and enjoy the complimentary smores kits. Next door, you’ll find a popular restaurant, Bar N Ranch. We did not dine at the restaurant, but it seemed to be a popular choice for fellow glampers.
With no city lights nearby, the star-filled sky was a sight to behold. I’m not sure if we’ve ever seen anything like that, and we live in a rural area back home in Georgia. It still doesn’t compare.
Under Canvas Booking
If you’re looking for an outdoorsy experience, without committing to camping, consider glamping with Under Canvas West Yellowstone.
Keep in mind, with glamping, you’re still outdoors- so everything from weather to bugs to critters adds to the adventure. I can’t believe how often I’ll read a review, and someone is complaining about one of those things. You. Are. Outdoors. If that’s not your thing- no problem. Glamping isn’t for you.
